Pasture for Plovers

A three-year project to deliver farm advice to benefit breeding waders – particularly lapwing, curlew, redshank and snipe – within the North Pennines, including:

  • Free on-farm advice on land management techniques for breeding waders
  • Advice on Higher Level Stewardship Scheme applications
  • On-farm demonstration events showing examples of beneficial land management such as rush-cutting, traditional meadow management and scrape creation
  • Farm walks and bird identification days for the public, promoting the importance of the North Pennines for waders and the work farmers do to encourage them.
