Engaging via Environment

This project delivers a range of education and engagement opportunities to young people in the Wansbeck District, using alternate activities outside the classroom to engage with young people and encourage them to attend and complete their schooling. The project will also give young people experience in undertaking practical works outdoors and may lead to an associated career choice.

Objectives include:

  • Getting young people involved in improving their local community green spaces
  • Developing a better understanding between young people traditionally regarded as a threat and nuisance, and their neighbours
  • Helping young people gain an increased pride-in-place and social awareness
  • Working alongside schools and other youth work practitioners to allow the objectives to be met beyond the end of the project.
