Select a BAP topic for your dissertation

There are always opportunties for research into the species and habitats in the Biodiversity Action Plan. If you have to conduct a dissertation as part of your post graduate programme why not focus on something that could help to deliver real conservation work in the future. The Northumberland Biodiversity Partnership will be able to offer advice and support in both the development and delivery of your chosen topic.

Ideas for dissertation topics


Ancient hedgerows - comparison of historic maps from the enclosure period with modern day OS field boundaries and assessment of whether hedgerows still exist and whether they meet Ancient Hedgerow criteria.

White-clawed Crayfish - feasibiliy of creation of Ark sites to increase crayfish populations

Invertebrates - variety of species found in specific BAP habitats such as calaminarian grassland, heather moorland or native woodland.
