BioBlitz 2008
Northumberland's first ever Bioblitz took place on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th September at Druridge Bay. A Bioblitz is a race against time to count as many species of plant and animal as possible at a particular site in a 24 hour period.
There were opportunities for the public to get actively involved in wildlife recording by taking part in one of the many free activities which included bird watching, pond dipping, rock pooling and wildlife walks.
Staff and volunteers recorded a total of 357 different species:

The first species recorded was a Pied wagtail (Motacilla alba) and the last species Dyer's greenweed (Genista tinctoria)

Marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus)
Toad (Bufo bufo)
Angle Shades moth (Phlogophora meticulosa)
