Northumberland Biodiversity Partnership Annual Forum 2009

The Northumberland Biodiversity Partnership annual forum was held at The Clockroom, Blagdon Estate on Friday 22nd May, International Day for Biological Diversity, from 10:00 until 13:30.

The NBP forum is an opportunity for all members to discuss the achievements of the partnership in the last 12 months and to influence the work that is needed over the next year.

Presentations included:

  • a selection of examples of the positive work that has been carried out in the last year by Gill Thompson, the chair of the Partnership;
  • an annual update from the coordinator to provide a general overview of the work of the partnership in the last 12 months;
  • a description of the current system for Local Sites in the county and outline of the recent work undertaken by the group as part of Northumberland’s Local Area Agreement in the assessment of National Indicator 197 Improved Local Biodiversity – proportion of Local Sites where active conservation management is being achieved - by David Feige, the chair of the Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside Local Sites Partnership;
  • brief descriptions of the conservation, neighbourhood services and countryside, recreation and access teams within the new Northumberland Council Structure were provided by Chris Burgess, Terry Garnick and Ian Graham

A guided walk of Prestwick Carr also took place in the afternoon.
