Habitat & Species Action Plans
The members of the Northumberland Biodiversity Partnership deliver action for wildlife through implementation of the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) for Northumberland. Individual plans have been developed to reflect those habitats and species which are characteristic of Northumberland’s natural heritage and most at risk from loss, fragmentation and deterioration of quality. Specific actions within the individual plans vary depending on the species or habitat and range from practical conservation management and survey work, through to promotional activities and working with policy makers.
How to reference the BAP
The Northumberland BAP has not been physically published and all action plans are available to download from this section of the website. If you need to reference the Northumberland BAP in a report we would recommend using the Harvard system of referencing for websites. A full update of the BAP was carried out in 2007 so if you are referencing the entire document it should look like the following:
Northumberland Biodiversity Partnership, 2007. Northumberland Biodiversity Action Plan. [Online] Northumberland Biodiversity Partnership. Available at: http://www.northumberlandbiodiversity.org.uk/actionplans.asp [Accessed 06 April 2010].
If you are referencing a particular action plan within the BAP then each one identifies a particular author and most recent update. For example the Great Crested Newt Plan was written by E Jaggs and was most recently updated in Nov 2009:
Jaggs, E., Nov 2009. Great Crested Newt Species Action Plan. [Online] Northumberland Biodiversity Partnership. Available at: http://www.northumberlandbiodiversity.org.uk/documents/Action_Plans/great_crested_newt.pdf [Accessed 06 April 2010].
